About The Friends of St Mary's, Stoke by Nayland
The Friends of St Mary’s, Stoke by Nayland, was set up by a group of individuals who live in the village or nearby to raise funds to maintain and protect the fabric of our glorious church.
Members pay a small annual fee or a one-off payment for life membership. The Friends hosts fundraising events including concerts and golf days to which all members are warmly invited.
What we have achieved
The last couple of decades has seen numerous repairs and improvements made possible thanks to the great generosity of the members.
The organ has been fully renovated and refurbished and the magnificent medieval carved oak south doors were repaired and rehung. Over the last five years, The Friends has funded repairs to stained-glass windows, the south porch, the lead roof and paid for the installation of the path to the recreation ground and its lighting. In addition, The Friends pays for the on-going maintenance of the churchyard.
